Viruses hacked to Assemble Batteries

The self-assembly of viruses has been used by researchers at MIT to synthesize high-density batteries. These batteries have twice the capacity of carbon-based ones.

Engineers are clearly learning and using much of nature’s existing sophisticated techniques. They are beginning to realize then they did not need to reinvent the wheel again and again, especially when nature has already invented super-sonic jets.
