The generally perceived notion that DNA -> RNA -> Polypeptide is not true. The RNA can be edited before transcription and after RNA processing. So, the polypeptide is not 100% determined by the DNA sequence corresponding to it, it is also influenced by the other mechanisms which are collectively known as RNA editing.
